After taking his first Oenology (the study of wine) course, Malcolm fell in love with the wide world of learning about wine. Following his passion he completed the Sommelier certificate in Ottawa, Canada and two advanced wine courses while working to complete his bachelor of Education – his other lifelong passion.
After two years working as a supply teacher and realizing he prefers teaching about Albariño to teaching about algebra, he moved down to Niagara wine country to work as a wine professional and immerse himself in one of Canada’s pioneering wine regions.
While he considers himself an “equal opportunity wine drinker” some of his favourite wines are Northern Rhône reds, Vintage Champagne, and cool-climate Pinot Noirs.
When not studying wine texts or planning wine lessons, Malcolm also enjoys hiking in the great outdoors and canoe camping Canada’s majestic rivers.
