My love for wine started in 2009 with my first wine course, Oenology at the University of Guelph. For me wine has always been a pleasure from very humble beginnings with friends’ homemade wine, and simple ‘fighting-varietal’ wines, that has progressed through learning about the fascinating and wide-reaching subject of wine. I am thrilled that this passion continues to grow more and more everyday!
My background is in education. In 2012, I completed my Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa learning educational theory and practical techniques.
Then, in 2013, I completed the WSET Level 3 (formerly the Advanced Certificate), and most recently have completed a specialist qualification, the Wine and Spirit Education Trust’s Level 4 – Diploma in Wines and Spirits.
I now feel fortunate to be building a life around combining my two passions: wine and education.
Since 2015 I have been working as a Wine Educator in Toronto, Ontario and in 2016, I launched Oenologize.ca, one of the very first online wine schools. At Oenologize.ca, I teach live wine classes to students across the province in a virtual classroom. These classes are designed for consumers and wine lovers, including front line staff in the hospitality and retail industries. There is no pre-requisite level of knowledge to sign up, and the courses are designed to deliver a broad scope of wine knowledge on many of the main fields of wine, with a small amount of time commitment. At the end of the course, you will be well versed in the fundamentals of wine with confidence in your wine purchasing and recommending, and even have your own Wine 101 Certificate to boot!
Now that you know more about me, I invite you to explore the rest of site! Whether you’re curious to learn more about wine, or already have a deep love and appreciation for one of life’s greatest pleasures, I hope our paths cross and we get to Oenologize soon!
